The downside is that one might get a Muldoon-style Nat government again, or worse, a Blair-style Labour government that entrenches itself in power.

The 19th century idea of a property qualification has a lot of attraction.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18947592.post-1136848981261799872006-01-10T12:23:00.000+13:002006-01-10T12:23:00.000+13:00You wonder why now the left are pushing for STV no...You wonder why now the left are pushing for STV now eh? MMP has killed the Alliance and damaged the Greens.

They will keep on going until they get their way. S...It seems that the issue of fairness is involved. Shouldn't parties with 5 per cent support get 5 percent of the seats? In fact why not 1 percent? To complain about MMP is like complaining that the free market gives too much competition and too much specialization of shops. It causes splits among sections of the economy pushing new, something odd, businesses. Ditto for political competition.

And it is ideas that matter not who spreads them. Are your views wrong because you obviously attended meetings with extreme conspiracy nuts like Alan Stang of the John Birch Society? MMP seems right to me and it doesn't matter one twat who supports it. It is either good or bad on it's own.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18947592.post-1136798563248584152006-01-09T22:22:00.000+13:002006-01-09T22:22:00.000+13:00So, socialists worked to bring New Zealand MMP; do...So, socialists worked to bring New Zealand MMP; does this make it evil by association?
