Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on Monday congratulated the Iranian nation and government on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

During the conversation, Chavez expressed his satisfaction with the wide and glorious participation of the Iranian nation in Bahman 22 (February 11) rallies.

For his part, Ahmadinejad appreciated the friendly approach of Venezuela to Iran and said, "Today, the Iranians still attempt to materialize the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and they have even become more united and courageous than they were 28 years ago.

"Through their extensive presence at the Bahman 22 rallies, people disproved the propaganda of imperialist media and once again displayed the firm solidarity between people and government officials."

Lauding the favorable growing trend of multifaceted mutual relations, he said that further expansion of such ties will satisfy the allies of the two nations and at the same time will dissatisfy their enemies.

"Inauguration of Tehran-Caracas direct flight and the planned establishment of joint investment fund in the near future will lead to more sincere relations and broader cooperation between Iran and the Latin American states," added the chief executive.

Chavez underlined that his government and nation will always stand next to the Islamic Revolution as well as the courageous Iranian government and nation.

"As an independent and free country, Iran is a good and reliable partner in cooperation on the international scene, particularly in economic sector," he added.
