Iran Builds Links With China and Cuba

Phil Goff's friend, Iran, is building its ties with China...

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Abbas Araqchi arrived here Thursday morning for an official two-day visit.

Araqchi is scheduled to hold talks with senior Chinese officials on avenues for bolstering Tehran-Beijing relations as well as latest regional and international developments.

The two sides will also discuss Iran's peaceful nuclear case and the importance of settling the nuclear dispute through diplomatic channels.

Araqchi has already visited Beijing twice in the current Iranian calendar year

....and Cuba

First Vice President Parviz Davoudi said on Wednesday that Iran is willing to develop cooperation with the independent states.

In a meeting with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade Raul de la Nuez Ramirez, Davoudi said that grounds are well prepared for cooperation among independent states especially in the field of trade adding that the opportunity should be utilized for multilateral growth of the developing nations.

Davoudi said that Iran has given importance to developing economic and trade relations with Cuba and that Tehran-Havana Joint Economic Commission has been formed at Iranian Ministry of Industries and Mines to help upgrade industrial cooperation between the two countries.

He said that Iran enjoys high engineering capacity and both Iranian and Cuban officials are expected to implement the accords already reached in the industry and engineering sector.

Davoudi said that Iran is ready to dispatch Iranian engineers to implement joint projects in the field of industry.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Davoudi said that Latin American nations have become aware and stood up to the colonialist powers adding that Cuba is the standard-bearer of awareness in Latin America.

Ramirez expressed pleasure with the outcome of his negotiations with Iranian officials in Tehran and said that Havana is keen on developing cooperation with Iran.
