Ian Wishart is an ISLAMOPHOBE!!!

Auckland's Resident's Action Movement has done the public a great service by warning us of a grave danger in our midst.

Well known writer and publisher, Ian Wishart is an ISLAMOPHOBE!!!

According to Morgan's post on Indymedia

The March 2007 edition of "Investigate" magazine carried a lengthy article by Ian Wishart which claimed that the New Zealand Muslim community is being infected by "Islamic extremism".

"Mr Wishart's 18-page rant is New Zealand's first full-on example of Islamophobic gutter journalism," said Grant Morgan, organiser of RAM Residents Action Movement.

"The most basic fact is that nobody in the New Zealand Muslim community has ever been charged with any act of 'terrorism', let alone convicted. That puts the lie to his propaganda of fear, suspicion and hate."

"As the organiser of RAM, I was requested by a meeting of senior Muslim leaders in Auckland to pen a letter-in-reply to Mr Wishart's article," said Grant Morgan. "My letter has been co-signed by over 130 community leaders, the vast majority of them non-Muslim, who are equally disgusted at the article's contents."

These community leaders include:

* The mayor of Waitakere City.
* Five regional and city councillors.
* Many religious leaders from Christian, Muslim and other faiths.
* Top academics and lawyers.
* Senior trade union officials.
* Representatives of Maori and ethnic groups.
* Other leaders in the community.

"While more signatures are arriving all the time, I have today emailed our letter to Mr Wishart's magazine," said Grant Morgan.

"Will Mr Wishart have the integrity to publish it in full, along with the complete list of co-signatories, without appending the sort of conspiracy fantasies that he regularly attaches to critical letters under the guise of 'editorial comment'? That will be a test of his professed belief in freedom of speech."

What we do know is that Wishart is an arrogantly unabashed trash "journalist", lurched strangely religious: we know further that many of the people on your stupid "list" above this article are major contributors to their communities.

Take your pick!

You sure know how to look ridiculous Trev, and to threaten your already de minimis support.

Now the term "Jihadist" is somehow "anti-Muslim" even though these sort of radicals blow up their fellow Muslims in Iraq and elsewhere? Where are the protests against that?

RAM got over 88,000 votes in the last election, nearly 10% of the vote in Auckland. SO definitely not just an achronym. They will run a ticket on free and frequent public transport in the upcoming ARC elections

Well Bere', if you insist. Very kind of you I must say....

Hey, love the mug-shot of Weeny Eeeny! He seems quite practised at that - looking sort of victmised and put upon. And just for telling the truth. My God, what's the world coming to?

What do you mean the term Jihadist is anti-muslim? Be a bit more specific. Coz, you seem to answer your own question by saying that the fundamentalists "blow up their fellow Muslims," which is pretty anti-Muslim as well as anti a lot of things. Is that what you mean by anti- Muslim? As for Christian- fascist, well, I can't say I hear that term that much. But maybe it is, and maybe it refers to individual fundametalist christians. But again, you need to be specific as to what you mean, anti this or that. Anti according to whom?

Trevor you say 'To achieve more freedom I believe in working with all those who are moving in broadly the same direction'. Its obvious you know very little about Islam. It’s all about the Koran and NOT democracy. They are certainly moving, but in the OPPOSITE direction to your statement and yet you give them full support? A quick search on the net will tell you more about the Religion of Peace and the reverse meaning of its name. http://thereligionofpeace.com/
