Al Qaeda Calls for Alliance With Hamas

Al Qaeda's Russian trained deputy leader, Ayman al-Zawahri is calling for an alliance with Hamas against Israel.

From Ynet News

Al-Qaeda's deputy leader called on Muslims around the world to back Hamas with weapons, money and attacks on US and Israeli interests in a web audiotape Monday, urging the Palestinian group to unite with al-Qaeda's "holy warriors" after its takeover of Gaza.

The message from Ayman al-Zawahri, who is Osama bin Laden's top deputy, marked a major shift by al-Qaeda, which in the past criticized Hamas for joining a government with the US-supported Fatah faction.

The audiotape was clearly made after Hamas' takeover of Gaza earlier this month, marking a rapid response from al-Qaeda's top leadership to the events. Its authenticity could not be independently confirmed, but it was posted on a web forum where al-Zawahri has issued messages in the past.

Al-Zawahri urged Hamas to implement Islamic law in Gaza, telling it, "Taking over power is not a goal but a means to implement God's word on earth.

"Unite with mujahedeen (holy warriors) in Palestine ... and with all mujahedeen in the world in the face of the upcoming attack where Egyptians and Saudis are expected to play part of it
," he added, suggesting that the two countries intended to attack Hamas to uproot its control of Gaza.

"Provide them (Hamas) with money, do your best to get it there, break the siege imposed on them by Crusaders and Arab leader traitors," al-Zawahri, who is Osama bin Laden's top deputy, said, addressing Muslims around the world. "Facilitate weapons smuggling from neighboring countries."

"We can support them by targeting the Crusader and Zionist interest wherever we can," al-Zawahri said.

You should also mention that Zawahri parrotted the deceptive policies of the neo-Fascist, pro-Soviet Egyptian government, as the Egyptian government funnelled the right amount of arms for Hamas to conquer Gaza with being given the green light by Iran.

I just believe the "al-Qaeda" card is just being used by the PLO, the real culprits behind the 9/11 attacks (where the bin Laden family to a degree are linked to them through the Muslim World League) are just using this as a ploy to gain more money from the West.

Zawahri's Islamic Jihad group in its Palestinian branch is openly affiliated with the PLO and Hamas, while the main Egyptian branch seems to be more "al-Qaedish".

There's also reports surfacing that Hezbollah, PLO, Hamas, Egypt, Syria, Iran are all preparing for a summer offensive against Israel. The "al-Qaeda" and the "anti-Hamas" card being played out by Mahmoud Abbas is just another ploy for him to gain more cash to buy more weapons from his friends in the Kremlin while pretending to be pro-Western.

I also take that you Huhana don't really give a damn that Zawahri awhile ago stated that blacks, Hispanics and other minorities should join "al-Qaeda" parrotting the policies of the Communist Party USA's recruitment of them.

Yea, I guess it's quite alright for Zawahri or Western Communist parties to apply their totalitarian method of divide and conquer. Anyone who raises eyebrows about this is a "racist" to you.

You do seem to have a somewhat over eager posting finger Mah and you are a little easy to provoke.

And hang on, did you just say that he PLO are behind the September 11th attacks ?
What ? Why ?

The Palestinean Islamic Jihad's connections to the Egyptian version have always been very tenuous about the only connection they share is a name and roots in the Qutb leaning wings of the Muslim Brotherhood.

I would also question your assertion that a summer offensive is being planned against Israel by such a wildly disparate set of countries and groups with distinct ideologies and political aims. Some of them are fanciful, some ludicrous.

What hope does the PLO have of mounting an offensive or even what basis ?

And Hezbollah, that recently condemned the killing of peacekeepers in Southern Lebanon as a dangerous thing is going to blow straight through those same peacekeepers and attack Israel ?

And Egypt ? Nasty dictatorship it is but last I checked it was on fairly good terms with both the US and Israel (the Sharm Al Sheikh summit last week perhaps) and has its own problems with Islamists inside its own borders suggesting it would be extremely odd for it to encourage or support the political legitimacy of islamism in Palestine.

You seem to be forgetting some key facts, sorry

Tell me fergus, do you so dishonestly ignore reports of Hezbollah, where these terrorists were openly trained by PLO-backed militia groups in the Lebanese Civil War are rearming via Syria for a likely future offensive againts Israel?

Do you so dishonestly ever even pick up a book by Anatoliy Golitsyn and actually read it instead of promoting your usual far left slogans into stating how the right-wing are the "enemies of peace" and other such things like that?

Mah, you have very little if any idea of what my political positions are. I have at no time declared the right wing to be "the enemies of peace" there are interventionist / hawkish politicians in all places and most parties something not easily characterised by a political spectrum approach.

I'll address your claims individually rather than as the conglomeration of assumptions you tend to group together and see as mutually self supporting.

There is no proof and no accusations even that the PLO had anything to do with September 11th. Those Palestinians who celebrated it are to be condemned as equally as any other person that does.

Groups that support military attacks inside Israel or against civilian settlers in the territories are completely unjustified. Attacks against military targets in the territories are, in my mind, counterproductive and stupid but probably justifiable. I prefer those groups that advocate non-violent resistance.

People like Mustafa Barghouti (and yes I'm aware of his political background, feel free to work that into your theories if you like) Salem Fayyad and Hana Ashrawi probably offer the best hope for Palestinean politics but their influence is still weak in Palestinean society.

Fatah are a pretty nasty and quite stupid bunch, the Al-Aqsa Martyr's brigade should be shut down as a precondition for any talks and the whole lot of them need their bank accounts under 24 hour watch. However speaking pragmatically at the moment they are vastly more favourable than Hamas and have recognised Israel, are secular etc. They're bad, need serious reforms, need to clean the own house and need to treat Israel more fairly but they do in pragmatic terms present a better option than Hamas and a more viable one than the third way parties.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hezbollah are rearming, but I think with the peacekeepers in place and the more assertive moves of the Lebanese Government recently (the campaign against Fatah - al - Islam) then the chances of any real attacks are minimal. It would also further jeopardise its political gains if it chooses to bring the destruction of war back into the country.

Mah you're overly eager and tend to react very strongly to things. Not necessarily a bad thing. But in my opinion and those of the majority of commentators and political scientists some of your opinions are very difficult to square with the facts. Sure Russia is becoming more domestically totalitarian and aggressive in its foreign policy but that in no way leads one to the conclusion
that it represents a resurrection of the Soviet Union.

I support many of you condemnations of Russia, and many people also support a hawkish approach to that behaviour (I'm a bit carrot and stick myself). Vigilance and pressure is a good thing but notions such as those of the G-man ( anyone ?) only cloud the picture unnecessarily. I spoken to some people about Golitsyn's book and there seems to be an overwhelmingly lack of peer support for it but if you can recommend some critical articles that support it then I might look at them and even a look at it.

But can you ever take to account that the PLO umbrella-Palestinian Authority allows Palestinian text books meant to help Palestinians build a Palestinian state to only be found to teach Palestinians to hate Israeli Jews?

How about the likes of Osama and even most of his family being affiliated with the Muslim World League? A known radical group that is linked to terrorism and even to Hamas and even to the likes of the PLO?

Why didn't Abbas go and abolish Hamas' presence after the airing of the Hamasitized Mickey Mouse that taught Palestinian children to hate Israeli Jews? Why did it have to take Hamas' conquest of Gaza to do so?

Look up someone like Jan Malina:

http://www.anti-communistanalyst.com/

The site is through a Conservative Catholic perspective, but he pretty much believes that Russia and China are a major threat.

He has the documents of other Soviet defectors like Golitsyn who give similar warnings.
