Dirty Daniel, Castro's Spaniel

Their can be few grubbier politicians on the international scene than Nicaraguan president, Daniel Ortega.

Promising he was no longer a revolutionary, Ortega fooled Nicaraguans into giving him the presiedency. Since assuming office he has toured virtually every third world revolutionary regime going.

His latest trip has taken him to Algeria, Venezuela (Russia's two biggest arms customers respectively), Libya and Iran.

He was to have visited Italy as well but was summoned urgently to Cuba instead-apparently at Fidel Castro's personal request (command?)

From Cuba's La Prensa Latina

Havana, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua s President Daniel Ortega started a working visit to Cuba after a world tour that took him to Venezuela, Algeria, Libya and Iran.

Ortega arrived in this capital Friday night and was welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport by Council of State Vice President Carlos Lage and Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque.

The Nicaraguan statesman s visit is part of the excellent relations of friendship and collaboration existing between the two countries, which together with Venezuela and Bolivia, join the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, Granma daily reported.
