New Zeal Takes Stock

I've been blogging for 18 months and have written nearly 1500 posts.

This week I'll tick over 100,000 hits.

Time to take stock.

This blog is reasonably well read, both in NZ and overseas. Is it it achieving its purpose? Is it counter productive? Is it helping or hindering the cause of freedom?

Do you think New Zeal is informative? Credible? Dangerous? Boring?

Should New Zeal continue?

That's enough questions for now. I'll ask more on future posts.

Any feedback-positive, negative or mixed is welcome.

Have your say readers.

New Zeal is a very cool blog. Don't get down on yourself because of fluctuations in the market. That's life. You can't expect people to just drop what they are doing and follow you around all the time. Especially during he summer when people are outside and not at their computers.

The argument as to whether capitalism is really the answer or the cause of the world's problems is a very worthy topic. So many people in the west got the idea into their heads that this topic was closed because this is what the media propaganda told them to think when the wall fell. People just went with it and thought" Ok, this is the way it is now" instead of asking "Why did this happen and what is a better solution for humanity?". Lazy decision making as usual. But New Zeal is showing us both that the world is still full of countries trying to make their way as a group and also how government intervention affects people's lives locally. I think by keeping the argument alive and demanding that people not just take the easy road and put their heads in the sand is a better way to do things. This is an admirable social contribution, Trev. New Zeal is something to be proud of.

Please continue. I find your profiles of the hard left both fascinating and sometimes useful.

In fact next time I am in Chch I'd love to see the raw files so I can then make requests for profiles.

"Is it helping or hindering the cause of freedom?"

Helping. Exposing authoritarian cockroaches is always helpful.

"Do you think New Zeal is informative?"

Yep.

"Credible?"

Yep.

"Boring?"

Not usually. ;^)

Keep it up, Trev.

Unread New Lies For Old.

All this Reds under the Beds stuff gets in the way of the things that deserve to have priority.

the blog is excellent already but I would like to see more idea's to combat the communist agenda.
Reds can infiltrate and redirect any organization so free people need to do the same or adopt strategies to weaken or eliminate the effect.
Keep up the good work Trevor

One of the best blogs on the net. Shame the mainstream media colludes to hide the truths we read here. This information deserves the widest possible audience.

Trevor,

Keep on blogging! Reading between the lines it seems that you may have a small case of blog fatigue. Take a break if that is the case or get guest bloggers to help out.

NZ gets extremely little media coverage in the US. In fact, NZ hasn't been mentioned in the US media since the last Lord of the Rings movie 3 years ago! :-)

What I find most interesting are the posts on NZ politics. If I were a Kiwi I would be an ACT party member.

There are 3 downunder blogs that I check everyday;

John Jay Ray - the prodigious Brisbane blogger.
http://dissectleft.blogspot.com/

Tim Blair - the sharp and witty Aussie journalist.

Its a funny read and as a leftist I find it rather useful. One thing you could change is you could be slightly more discerning about how you label those that you disagree with.

Written by an interesting and decent guy with the best of intentions I'm sure but unfortunately prone to jump at things and with an elastic definition of what constitutes socialism and no appreciation for the modern strand of liberalism.

Read a bit and consider finding some new sources and with such passion this could be an even better read. Still not one that I'd agree with mind, but that doesn't matter.

Definitely keep it up Trevor. I find the Socialist Academic Profiles the most interesting probably because they're so close to home. That Chamsy guy teaches a friend of mine.

It seems to be a very flexible term to me.

I think the blog has carved out a decent niche is exposing communist infiltration everywhere.
However, I feel it needs to be made more relevant by focussing more on New Zealand.
I don't mean you totally ignore whats happening out there in the big wide world, but I feel your impressive research skills might have more impact exposing what's going on at home.
I am sure we have plenty of lefties well worth exposing, not just in academia, but in the wider public sector, as well as parliament.
If Nicky Hagar can carve out a reputation for the left, you can do so for the right, perhaps even finding a place as an occasional contributor to the Sunbday Star-Times.
You need to market yourself as a researcher into left wing extremism and infiltration. Send out regular news releases to the media, for example as an 'independent researcher.'
By picking out people who are in the news or are about to be in the news , you should be able to influence coverage of certain events and people.
The New Zealand media is under resourced and some journos are just dumb and lazy.
Last night's 6pm news on TV1 treated George Galloway as some kind of peace loving international statesman.
Had rookie reporter Billie Joe Hohepa received a decent backgrounder from you, then her coverage of him might not have been quite so fawning.
And TV1 viewers might have received more balanced coverage of him.

Thanks everybody-from both sides of the spectrum.

Noted Fergus, Reid, Isis, redbaiter and Rick.

Good suggestions from Fairfacts Media.

More NZ focus and more use of MSM appear to be in order.
