Clinton/Obama Ticket-"Revolutionary Advance"

An interesting piece from Communist Party USA writer Thomas Riggins.

While the Communist Party USA is clearly backing Barack Obama over Hilary Clinton, their pragmatism shows through.

Barack Obama is seen as a stepping stone on the road to socialism.

Ralph Nader, was too "advanced" -too obviously socialist for US voters.

The Communist Party allied Dennis Kucinich is also seen as too extreme to be electable.

Obama is about right and if he doesn't win the Democratic nomination, he should follow Fidel castro's advice and join Hillary Clinton's ticket.

From the CPUSA's Political Affairs Editor's Blog

We don't want to get carried away and start to believe that Obama represents some real qualitative change in the nature of monopoly capitalism, but he is a step in the right direction (as are the other Democratic candidates).

Being a member of Gonzalez's generation, 60s street demonstrations, radical marches and manifestations, state repression (Kent State, Birmingham, the FBI killings of Black leaders, etc. ) it certainly resonates when he says "real social progress requires enormous personal sacrifice" and that it won't happen "with Facebook networks, BlackBerries, a big 'Change' banner and phone banks."

And what Marxist would disagree with his conclusion that "In a nation suffering from the greatest wealth disparity in its history, those who tell us we can all get along are selling snake oil."

Fine. But when all is said and done you can't jump over the consciousness that the mass of the people have. Obama may be only the best of a bad lot but the consciousness he represents is a necessary stage for the progressive movement to pass through. Nader proved to be too advanced (his recent endorsement of Edwards shows that he has become a realist) and Kucinich, within the Democratic Party, has proved to be too advanced as well.

If we follow the recommendation of Fidel Castro (he supports a Clinton/Obama ticket according to the Daily News), that will be, for US politics, a revolutionary advance!

I should also add that John Kerry had recently endorsed Barack Obama during the week. Kerry was involved in creating a Communist front group known as Vietnam Veterans Against the War, where members of the group organized a trip for Jane Fonda to greet members of the soon-to-be ruling Communist Party of Vietnam with organized additional help from the Communist Party USA.

The VVAW today now works closely with other "pro-peace" veterans groups such as the Iraq Veterans Against the War which although isn't as hardcore in an obvious Communist front, members of the IVAW are involved in the same front groups as the VVAW.

More info about Kerry, Kerry's photo was also on the musuem wall in Ho Chi Minh City of Kerry greeting members of the ruling party. Kerry also made a trip to greet the leadership of the paleo-Sandinista government in the 1980's.

My point is that Obama is backed by a man who never once cared for the concern over the people who lived in the three Southeast Asian nations of Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos. He along with others never cared about the likely rise of Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh and the equally brutal Laotian Red leaders.
