Do the Republicans Actually Want to Stop Kagan?

A good question.

From World Net Daily

It continues to be possible for Republicans to pull the plug on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the U.S. Supreme Court, according to the chief of an organization that advocates for families and their interests.

Calling her the "most liberal, unconstitutional nominee we've ever seen," Randy Thomasson of SaveCalifornia.com, says Republican senators have the power, even in the minority, to stop Kagan in committee by objecting to the vote or on the Senate floor by leading a filibuster.

The organization also reported that under Senate rules, specifically Rule IV, there also could be a filibuster in committee.

Further, he said if one minority party member objects, the nomination will not come up for a vote if no Republicans vote to override the objection, and if six of seven Republican senators do not show up for the committee, there's no quorum...

Thomasson said if Republicans are successful in halting Kagan, they will prevent her influence all across American for the next 30 or 40 years.

Her nomination has not only prompted Thomasson to offer constituents a "take action" option on his SaveCalifornia.com site, it also has sparked the assembly of the "Stop Kagan Campaign."

"We will continue to put every member on notice – Republicans and Democrats – that a vote for Kagan is a vote against the U.S. military, a vote against the Constitution, a vote against free speech and a vote for ultra-partisan extremism and activism on the bench," said Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND who is orchestrating the effort that has generated tens of thousands of individual letters to senators.

Why should thousands of people campaign hard for the GOP, when the party seems intent on giving radical Kagan a free pass?

The Republican Party is part of the American ruling class, the party of "Communism Light" - They will do nothing effective to stop Kagan.

Of course, on paper the GOP stands for exactly the same things as does the Tea Party, but this is only a front for their continued role as the junior partner with the Democommie Party of AMSOC - American Socialism.

Hopefully in the next few years Patriots can regain control of the Republican Party and purge the ranks of establishment trash like John McCain.

Agreed, the Republican Party is the party of going along to get along with the Communist Party AKA the Democrat Party. Needless to say they will no doubt cave and confirm a Communist to the Supreme Court.

Many of us recognised during the last few administrations populated by America's worst and often not-so-bright that there is not a flicker of light between the American parties. They both represent "The Establishment", a group that you don't get into by joining a country club - but by being one of the ruling oligarchy.

The rules for the oligarchy is to keep making them more wealthy at the expense of the rest of us, literally. Where the US was once a beacon of hope, it began to change in the early 60's into its current realisation as being merely a paean to the greed of the few at the expense of the many.

We were mollified by mere words; we ignored the actions and reality to our disgrace. It is not a left or right question, but one which enslaves all of us.

Dr. Duncan, I ashamedly admit as an American that there is much truth in what you wrote.

The disgust with both parties, though, was the impetus for the birth of the Tea Party. Hopefully it will be able to be the catalyst for the restoration of true American values as articulated by our Founders.

If it isn't stolen, Mr. Paine. "The Establishment" has resources to buy, undermine, and subvert most anything they choose to attack - but having said that they do not own individuals' integrity. That, they give up on their own. We can only hope the people see the intense media campaign to subvert them (as it will be) for what it is - that is one of the reasons I recommend that people get off their televisions - permanently - on my blog.

I am very hopeful of the Tea Party as the US needs to be returned to a land governed by the people and not the oligarchs.

BTW, I am an American - I just haven't lived there in something over 20 years; but growing up when I did one got an appreciation of the true flavour of the country and its principles - something that is not part of the Federal definition of education. Outside of the Orient, in fact, I can't find a public education system which is anything but a shadow of what it was 30, 40, 50 years ago, though my personal experience does not range back that far.

I can go on, but I'll stop here.

There is the smell of revolution in American air, and it's not a done deal that Communist Kagan will last "30 or 40" years as a Supreme Court Justice just like it's not a done deal that Obama lasts another 30 months in office.

Repubics are like the mensheviks in relationship to the democrats-the bolsheviks.
None of the two parties actually represents the American people anymore.
Some repubics are still patriots, but most are like ALL the demsheviks-traitors and sellouts.
