Why is it Every Time I Leave Christchurch....?

The day before my recent trip to California my home town of Christchurch New Zealand was hit by a jolting 7.1 earthquake.

Now hours before I board a plane back to the US, we get a 5.0 aftershock - one of the best of more than 1500.

This one caused at least one shopping mall evacuation and blacked out at least one suburb.

Better stay home for a while after this trip. The Earthquake Claims Commission people may well detain me at the Airport next time.

I will now be in Washington DC and New York for more than two weeks, speaking, meeting and researching.
