Indian Maoists Prepare to Mount "People's War"
Very few in the West realise just how serious India's Maoist insurrection is becoming.
Allegedly supported by China and Pakistan, the insurgency is growing daily in half of India's 29 states.
From Reuters India
RANI BODLI, India (Reuters) - All that remains at an outpost on the frontline of India's war on Maoists are charred belongings, dried blood in the dirt and stray dogs scavenging for food and body parts after rebels killed 55 police.
Last week's attack on more than 70 police and tribal militia members at the remote post of Rani Bodli was one of the deadliest in decades and testament to Maoists' military punch as they forge a swathe of liberated territory in Chhattisgarh.
Hundreds of Maoists attacked the post in a pre-dawn raid. Tribal villagers who could have warned of the attack were silent -- either through fear or support for rebels --as the attackers crept up to the base's walls.
The insurgents then bombarded the post with grenades and homemade bombs made from lunchboxes and stormed the post with bayonets and knives.
Chhattisgarh and its southern forests are a stronghold of some 4,000-5,000 Maoists, known as Naxals or Naxalites.
They are part of a national insurgency that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said is the biggest internal security threat to India since Independence.
Since starting their rebellion in the eastern district of Naxalbari 40 years ago, the Maoists, now estimated at up to 20,000 fighters nationwide, have spread to nearly half of India's 29 states.
In the last year the rebels have robbed mines of explosives, attacked convoys and targeted village leaders for assassination. But this attack was their most brazen yet.
"They are trying to create their national command centre here," said Ajai Sahni of the Institute for Conflict Management, a New Delhi think-tank. "There want to make this their first liberated zone."
Locals who have visited Maoist camps deep in the forest -- covering 12,000 square km (4,600 square miles) -- say they enjoy power generators, television and DVD players.
Rani Bodli is on the edge of what locals call the "red zone", which begins across a river. The post was built to show police were still in command.
But the attack underscored the region's poor infrastructure and ill-equipped police.

PATNA: The recent killing of JMM MP Sunil Mahato in Jharkhand and 54 policemen in Chattisgarh prove that Maoists are now fully prepared for the "people's war".
The official statement, signed by CPI(Maoist) general secretary Ganapathi and released on February 19, after successful completion of CPI(Maoist) 9th Party Congress, had clearly indicated that Maoists were preparing for big attacks.
The Party Congress, termed as "Unity Congress", was held in January-February, 2007, somewhere in the forest area along Orissa-Jharkhand border.
According to the CPI(Maoist) official press communique, the Unity Congress resolved to advance the people's war throughout the country, further upgrade its Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) to regular People's Liberation Army (PLA), deepen its mass base and wage a militant mass movement against the "neo-liberal policies of globalisation, liberalisation and privatisation pursued by ruling classes on the dictates of imperialists."
According to the release, the Party Congress, the highest decision-making body of the party, was attended by 100 senior Maoist leaders from 16 states. The conclave re-elected Muppala Lakshman Rao alias Ganapathi as party general secretary.
According to reports reaching here, Ganapathi, while addressing the hardcore Maoist leaders from across the country, had said, "No more hit and run. Now, time has come to spread in the towns, identify specific targets and attack them with precision."

Those Maoists are sick people. They say they are for the "people", but that means it involves killing them in "liberating" them.
After looking at the latest graphic photos from Iraq I suggest these pictures are lame by comparrison.
If the maoists want to get real they should take note of George Bush's war of liberation.
Freedom and democracy come at a high price regardless of what the cause is called.
Dirk
"If the maoists want to get real they should take note of George Bush's war of liberation."
So now Bush is a "Maoist"? You supporting the murder of innocent Indian people, but then protect a dead dictator-Saddam Hussein?
I dont think you and I live on the same planet Mah.
The point I make is sometimes people die as a consequence of their beliefs. There is nothing shocking about dead people in India when compared with the carnage in Iraq.
Bush is just another thug like all the rest.
Dirk
I have been to Cuba and found it an enchanting country which may well be thanks to the "dictator" fidel. And I do Love those Harry Belafonte songs. But then some suggest it was better when the american political gangsters controlled it with their puppet "dictator"
mah you have this need to keep mis-quoting me. Your emotions control your argument and like a rabbid dog you rush off barking wildly and frothing at the mouth without thinking about what has been suggested.
I get the impression that your world consists of the good guys (America and Israel) and the bad guys (everybody else) I'm afraid life aint that simple in the real world that i live in.
They (the politicians) are all thugs, liars, philanderers, cheats, cowards, greedy and one or two more descriptive phrases that slip my mind at the moment.. And these paragons of virtue always send the little people off to die in the interest of freedom, democracy, justice while they stay in the comfort of their ivory towers and get fat and rich and surround themselves with like minded parasites who share in the spoils of war.
It dont matter what side you on. when you dead you dead and soon forgotten.
I no longer offer myself as a sacrefice to any cause other than my own. Woof Woof.
Dirk.
"you have this need to keep mis-quoting me"
Me, misquoting you? You perfectly stated that President Bush is a "dictator" and is a "thug". While you ignore your own embracement of truly horrible dictators and terrorists alike. That is not a misquotation if you certainly believe that Bush is a "thug".
Do you use a mirror to read all this stuff Mah? If you do it aint working.
"I suggest bush is a defacto dictator. I believe america is a two party dictatorship. A fascist state if you wish."
You totally do not know the concept of what a dictatorship truly looks like. This makes a mockery to every human being who has ever suffered under a dictatorship. Believe me, I know what a dictatorship looks like, and America doesn't fit the profile. But I'm pretty sure once you pro-Soviet types finally come into power, America will eventually become dictatorial since you promote quite the opposite meaning of the U.S. Constitution.
" You can have the republicians or the democrats. there aint no middle ground. And in my opinion both parties exist for their own wellbeing not the welfare of the citizens."
Please. This is another poor concept of what is a dictatorship. The only dictatorial people I see here would be people like you who embrace real dictatorships such as protecting the likes of Saddam Hussein and other similar ilk.
Maybe there is another reason why the world mocks the West. It's not because it certainly sees itself as "superior" than the rest, but its population like yourself certainly have a poor concept of what a dictatorship looks like.
Morning Mah.
I only have my own experiences to call upon when making my judgements.
America sets itself up as the role model for democracy, but from my observations its anything but.
America is rife with racial bigotry, social injustice, escalating crime on all levels, and a political system that shuts out minority groups unless they be token lapdogs of the ruling elite.
The land of truth, justice and the american way is slowly becomming a police state where the citizens no longer have any privacey from the invasive nature of the state which abuses the rights of the individual in the name of freedom.
Its called the "Patriot Act".
Who would have thought the great land of America would ever sanction torture as a means to obtain their lofty idealistic goals. The country gets more like Nazi Germany every day.
But for all that its still a land of opportunity that enriches more than just the war mongers.
Dirk
"America is rife with racial bigotry, social injustice, escalating crime on all levels, and a political system that shuts out minority groups unless they be token lapdogs of the ruling elite."
Please not this bull again. America isn't the America back in the 60's or 70's. How about African-Americans involved with the Bush Administration? You think Bush is a "racist"?
"The land of truth, justice and the american way is slowly becomming a police state where the citizens no longer have any privacey from the invasive nature of the state which abuses the rights of the individual in the name of freedom.
Its called the "Patriot Act"."
Ah, taking the rhetoric from the Communist Party USA, Communist Party of Britain and other radical parties. How about tell me why Thomas Helen, a critic of the Bush administration remains in the press corp when in real totalitarian nations like Putin's Russia, Jintao's China, Mugabe's Zimbabwe, there is no such thing like that?
"Who would have thought the great land of America would ever sanction torture as a means to obtain their lofty idealistic goals. The country gets more like Nazi Germany every day."
Just stop your propaganda right here. America isn't on the lines of Nazi Germany. Enough with this bullshit propaganda already. You believe in the stupid 14 Points of Fascism that "prove" America is a "fascist" country? How about applying those 14 points to China under Mao and his successors? Russia under Putin and his predecessors? Zimbabwe under Mugabe? Knock it off with this bullshit (pardon my language) but it truly is bull. I am studying what World War II was all about and compared the governments of Nazi Germany and that of the U.S. is laughable. You do not understand the history of World War II if you laud how America "is like" Nazi Germany.
"But for all that its still a land of opportunity that enriches more than just the war mongers."
You ought to look in the mirror to see what a hyprocrite you are. All you do is bash your rhetoric on hype, hype, hype and more hype.
You have shown no concept on what a dictatorship truly is. All you do is make a mockery to the people who suffer under dictatorships throughout human history. Even the dictatorships you proclaim to be against such as Augusto Pinochet's, a favorite target in your type of propaganda are condemning Pinochet's victims.
Dirk,
Do you certainly want to agree with someone with the likes of Hassan Nasrallah leader of Hezbollah?
"It is our pride that the Great Satan (U.S.) and the head of despotism, corruption and arrogance in modern times considers us as an enemy that should be listed in the terrorism list."
Good for you Mah. But you should stop attributing things to me that I never said or intimated.
Strange as it may seem, I think you and I haver a problem with the language barrier.
Dirk.
Its a beautiful clear sunny day here in the Wairarapa. I taking my Harley for a spin, Heading up to Napier, have lunch, look at the pretty girls and head home.
Catch you later.
Dirk.
" But you should stop attributing things to me that I never said or intimated."
Please don't give me this bull Dirk (pardon my language), but you perfectly stated how America is "on the lines" of Nazi Germany. That Bush is a "dictator". That America is a "police state" because of the Patriot Act.
At the same time, this is the same language America's enemies repeat like Hassan Nasrallah in effort to turn radicalization into terrorism. So am I "misquoting" you whenever you go around and deny you made those claims of "how" America "is like" Nazi Germany and all that other sort of stuff when you poorly know the concept of what a dictatorship looks like and how people suffer under it?
Talk about QUANTUM LEAP !
Have a look at posts 2 and 3 above.
Post 2: With heavy irony Dirk tells Maoists to look to "Chickenhawk Liberation" if you gonna make a proper job of it.
Post 3: Mah humphs back rhetorically - "So now Bush is a Maoist ?"
Quantum leap, like to the next planet.....you think ?
"Chur" for the Far Right !
"With heavy irony Dirk tells Maoists to look to "Chickenhawk Liberation" if you gonna make a proper job of it."
Please steve. Comparing freeing millions of Iraqis from a brutal dictator-Saddam Hussein to what the Maoists are doing in India? How about Saddam's crimes against the Iraqi people or how he trained parts of the insurgency U.S. and coalition troops are now facing? Do you care about the recent chemical chlorine attack against the Iraqi people by insurgents? Or perhaps how about them now using Iraqi children as shields?
I hardly doubt that the Naxalites in India are going to give candy, crayons and other kid stuff to Indian children as what U.S. and coalition troops have done.
" Because you see things in black and white I dont think you understand irony. Where as I see it everywhere and it has made me more pragmatic as I have become older, wiser and a little less in awe of things that might have once shocked me."
So you have the nerve to lecture me, an American citizen as how my nation is "suddenly" a "fascist" or a "Nazi" style nation? At the same time you embrace terrible regimes?
"As a frequent visitor to America on both Business and pleasure I am intrigues me how prolific the use of flags have become as a propaganda tool. Instilling in the minds of the population the notion that the flag is a instrument in gods divine arsenal, and that it (the Flag) when flying over foriegn lands justifies any excess in the name of truth, justice and the american way.
From the moment One steps of an aircraft at L.A airport, or any airport, the senses are assaulted the the number of flags fluttering in the wind. I would'nt mind being in the flag business. But George W propably has that sewn up. This fact alone reminds me of the mass use of flags the Nazi's orchestrated at all their rallies to inflame the patriotic passion of the german peoples. The flags coupled with Hitlers belicose rhetoric was propaganda of the first degree. I draw comparrisons between then and now.
While Bush may not be removing Jews from their homes in the middle of the night, its not helpfull to be an arab or muslim in the mad house that is america today.
Anyway its still beautifull weather here so I'm off to a hotrod show down in Masterton."
Please. People like you certainly love to do this sort of propaganda stuff. Tell me, how many concentratoin camps are setup to place Arab and Muslim Americans? Come on? This is ridiculous and pathetic.
You really are clueless about what's going on with America are you not? People like you pretend to be tolerant when you are not.
Dirk, please. This America = Nazi business has got to stop. I am not going to debate some turd (pardon the turd language) who uses this sort of propaganda into "showing" how America has become a "fascist" country.
What is your obsession with painting President Bush on the lines of a "Nazi" or a "fascist"? Hugo Chavez certainly loves to have the new Venezuelan flag and being celebrated by mass demonstrations. I see no major mass demonstrations when someone like Bush or other American Presidents speak.
"This fact alone reminds me of the mass use of flags the Nazi's orchestrated at all their rallies to inflame the patriotic passion of the german peoples."
Once again you compare America to Nazi Germany. Enough of this sort of propaganda. You are not wise at all but use this analogy to blame America for your own problems. And strange that you refer me to think in "black and white" this "analogy" you certainly love to promote paints America to be the "Great Satan".
You certainly do not really care about that sort of same analogy being used by people like Osama bin Laden when they literally refer America to be the "Great Satan" do you? All folks like you certainly do is take a totalitarian populist line into using the analogy of America being equaled to Nazi Germany.
If that were true, why are dissidents like Helen Thomas in the press corp and Bush congradulating them in their career while in dictatorial regimes to which you certainly love to blame their atrocious behavior on the U.S. as a typical anti-American populist would do such as Russia and China, no such thing exists.
Why is that then?
"Considering the fact that america saw Saddam as an ally in its covert war against Iran and turned a blind eye to Saddams murderous treatment of much of Iraq's population, I find it ironic America nows fights to free Iraq from the effects of Sadamms tyranny.
Me thinks Iraq would have been a better place to be if George Bush had stayed at home and tried to fix the enormous social problems that exsist in the land Stars and Stripes today."
Strange as why someone like you would first suggest how much America was allied with Saddam, but then keep him in power along with having the "anti-war" Ramsey Clark being part of his defense team. At the same time, Clark has defended some of the worse tyrants.
Btw, did you know the sort of percent America supported Saddam? Only roughly five percent. The biggie ally Saddam had was Soviet Russia with a wooping roughly to close 70 percent of weapons being sold to him. I guess a small five percent or so and that photo of Donald Rumsfeld shaking Saddam's hand must count more than that 70 percent or so of Soviet arms to Saddam.
You certainly love to play the Nazi card with America but certainly don't really give a damn about the victims of the holocaust either when you do this sort of thing. How about the Soviets can be applied with your Nazi card. WWII was reffered to the Soviets as the "Great Patriot War". Hmm, does that not sound nationalistic? How about the rise of Mao Zedong after Imperial Japan made it quite possible with all the propaganda of posters of Communist Chinese Red Guards? Should your Nazi card apply then when they invaded Tibet and oppressed other minorities?
But alas, America according to you is the "Nazi Great Satan" and the "source" of all the evil of the world. I'm tired of people like you who just love to use libel propaganda at the same time you wouldn't mind keeping in a tyrant like Saddam in power but lecture the U.S. on who supported Saddam. Pay no attention to Ramsey Clark, leader of International ANSWER heading to Iraq to defend the now dead dictator like he did with Slobodan Milosevic or even supported the bloody Iranian Revolution of 1979 where Khomeni came to power.
Morning Mah, hows your ulcer this today? Because you see things in black and white I dont think you understand irony. Where as I see it everywhere and it has made me more pragmatic as I have become older, wiser and a little less in awe of things that might have once shocked me.
I had a great ride up the coast to Napier. Lunch at a quaint little Korean eatery on the foreshore before heading home.
Had a few too many Tui's last night so the head is a tad delicate.
Considering the fact that america saw Saddam as an ally in its covert war against Iran and turned a blind eye to Saddams murderous treatment of much of Iraq's population, I find it ironic America nows fights to free Iraq from the effects of Sadamms tyranny.

Speaking of Stars and Stripes: As a frequent visitor to America on both Business and pleasure I am intrigues me how prolific the use of flags have become as a propaganda tool. Instilling in the minds of the population the notion that the flag is a instrument in gods divine arsenal, and that it (the Flag) when flying over foriegn lands justifies any excess in the name of truth, justice and the american way.

"Truth is you're a fascist. Morally bankrupt and prepared to rationalise anything from The Chickenhawk and the sinister mongrels behind him, assisted by your tin soldiers lined up by you in your tragic world to show how it should be."
Funny people like you lecture me on debate. At the same time, you come up with childish names like "chickenhawk" or "fascist". That's "debate" according to someone like you?
"Take a page out of Dirk's book. He gets around, he smells the flowers - he's not possessed by the mindlessness of "America Right or Wrong !" Take a stroll in Central Park why don't you ? And get some humanity about you - Holocaust Harry !"
Now you along with Dirk certainly prove the sort of insanity I am seeing. You and Dirk are obsessed with painting America to be a "fascist police state" while lauding real police states like Saddam's but lecture people like me to be otherwise. You people often lecture how you are so "wise" at the same time you use the "Nazi" or "fascist" cards against your opponents like myself.
Can you or Dirk tell me one positive thing about America? Just one positive thing about America? If you can't name one positive thing America has done in the past or in recent time, then I am going to be proven right then.
"You're losing it, just like The Chickenhawk who will go down in history as the most dangerous joke ever to inhabit the Oval Office.
The Chickenhawk ! With the dirty "secret" of his own little gulag in Cuba."
So you can't name one good thing America has done recently or in the past can you "steve"? Your the typical kind of the pro-Soviet Leftist creed. Always obsessed with labeling the U.S. as the "Great Satan" or certainly leaning toward that.
I think having someone like Rosie O'Donnell being enabled to suggest how KSM was "tortured" at GITMO on ABC "The View" and being propelled by the media would certianly destroy your "argument" of America being "under" Nazi influence Dirk.
This certainly exposes what sort of cluelessness you Dirk and steve really are when it comes to reality.
Mah, I was probably rather too charitable when limiting my comments about your "Bush the Maoist ?" number to mention of Quantum Leap.
Your response to Dirk - "So now Bush is a Maoist ?" is actually an incredible non-sequitur - if, as I suspect, you don't understand, that means a conclusion which simply cannot, cannot follow.
But trust you Mah, you found a link. And you got the cheek to characterise your crude, unintelligent, somewhere "out there" rave, as "debate".
Truth is you're a fascist. Morally bankrupt and prepared to rationalise anything from The Chickenhawk and the sinister mongrels behind him, assisted by your tin soldiers lined up by you in your tragic world to show how it should be.
Take a page out of Dirk's book. He gets around, he smells the flowers - he's not possessed by the mindlessness of "America Right or Wrong !" Take a stroll in Central Park why don't you ? And get some humanity about you - Holocaust Harry !
And Mah, don't bother coming back with your "sad, sad, sad...." (repeated twelve times as I recall).
You're losing it, just like The Chickenhawk who will go down in history as the most dangerous joke ever to inhabit the Oval Office.
The Chickenhawk ! With the dirty "secret" of his own little gulag in Cuba.
Freedom Fried !
"Now, he's the clarion call for the most rambunctious, aggressive, xenophobic, pre-emptiveness the world has seen since, you got it, Adolf ! And in the process he's killed, get that, taken the life of many, many, many more Iraqis than did the Butcher of Bagdhdad."
Steve, you just stated how you embrace the Baathist dictatorship of Saddam Hussein. Please go hang yourself in shame.
"I could give you endless numbers of good, wonderful things about America. In these times, asked for one, I would have to say the US Constitution."
Don't come around here to suggest how you "love" the U.S. Constitution. From the likes of your rhetoric and the likes of Dirk, I just have about had it with folks like you who pretend to love the U.S. Constitution when you promote something quite the opposite of it.
"Hypocrite, liar, and essentially effete wee cardboard cutout of the guffawing cowboy (Universal Pictures archives circa 1952). A truly effete wee fellow. With few documented skills other than running this or that daddy-funded TX corporation into the ground."
Honestly, you have stated yourself that Bush is "somehow" more "horrible" than Saddam Hussein? But then proclaim to be for the U.S. Constitution? I must be in the Twilight Zone then.
Mah, don't you know anything about The Chickenhawk ?
Simple, verifiable truth is that in Vietnam times TC relied on his patrician daddy's money and position to go awol in effect, ensuring that his wretched boozing, coke snorting carcase weren't anywhere near the heat.
Now, he's the clarion call for the most rambunctious, aggressive, xenophobic, pre-emptiveness the world has seen since, you got it, Adolf ! And in the process he's killed, get that, taken the life of many, many, many more Iraqis than did the Butcher of Bagdhdad.
Oh, Baghdad is such a sweet little town under The Chickenhawk !
Hypocrite, liar, and essentially effete wee cardboard cutout of the guffawing cowboy (Universal Pictures archives circa 1952). A truly effete wee fellow. With few documented skills other than running this or that daddy-funded TX corporation into the ground.
That's why he richly deserves "The Chickenhawk" - he defines it so perfectly.
I could give you endless numbers of good, wonderful things about America. In these times, asked for one, I would have to say the US Constitution.
Two terms only honey, two terms ! The whole world is waiting for January '09. It will be a much safer place !
Please to both "steve" and Dirk. All you two are doing is applying the Marxist dialectic and moral relativist propaganda. Enough of this bull.
I'm not going to buy any "pro-American" rhetoric which you two are certainly going to try to pretend to be and then go off into your usual rants of how Bush is "worse" than Saddam, or how the U.S. is "under Nazi-style influence". Enough is enough.
Mah, you must be shockingly thick (that old non-sequitur bizo again), if not twisted to say that not handling The Chickenhawk means one MUST hate America.
One can't have regard for a great nation without loving the war criminal TC already ? Get real !
That would mean that The Chickenhawk and America are one and the same. They are not. Thank God ! A majority, say 70% of Americans would be horrified at that notion. The verdict of history will reflect that horror.
C'mon Mah, you know that yourself. You're just being petulant and silly stamping around with this "No, no, no I won't believe it !" stuff.
As I said earlier, roll on January '09. America can say "ka kite, ake ake ake !" to the Bad Joke !
I repeat, I admire the US Constitution. You can abuse me as disingenuous or engaged in the Darxist Mialectic if you like. Makes no odds. You're just a nutter with a strange, dotty "love" thing going on about TC. Poor fellow you !
And anyway, since when is it up to you to declare "Enough is enough" in some Rumsfeldesque decree ? What authority do you have ?
Human-hater !
And yes, as you said yourself Mah, you are in the Twilight Zone. And what an unhappy damned place it is !
Not that you don't deserve it with your cruel, inhuman, fascistic designs for the rest of the world.
I think that you ought to stop trying to 'Debate' with the likes of Dirk and Steve Mah. (especially 'special' Steve). They are not interested in honest debate but only want to continually beating the tired and infantile 'Bushitler' and 'The US = Nazi Germany' drum.
How can anyone debate with people that dishonest?

"How can anyone debate with people that dishonest?"
The reason I go after people like Dirk and "steve" is to expose them for what they are. They rely on applying Marxist Dialectics (i.e. "scissors" strategy as coined by Anatoliy Golitsyn) to promote disinformation and entrap Western population into the pro-Soviet line, then go around and pretend to be pro-American when they are not.
I go after them to expose them for who they are. Since "steve" admits that Iraq under Bush is worse than Saddam while not accounting for Saddam's atrocities, there's all the exposure I need along with Dirk's lack of compassion for every human being who has to ever suffer under a dictatorship in modern history.
Just as Mah flatters himself outrageously with his pretensions to "debate", he flatters himself wildly about "going after...." the likes of me and Dirk of Wairarapa.
All Mah really does is show he's a bigot and a fanatic. He'd "go after...." Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa if they so much as squeaked about any of the fascists he so applauds. Yes, he also shows he's not very bright - repeatedly.
Get over the love affair with The Chickenhawk mate. Your life'd be alot happier.
"i have found the American populous to be rather ignorant of world affairs other than the propaganda which has been feed them by those pulling their levers." And of course, you know different, right?. You know 'The Truth'.
Steve, is mindless abuse all you have?. Shows that you arguments are threadbare. Shows that you have the debating skills of a five-year old.
