"Chickenlittle" Commies Chant Climate Change Crap

The Sea is rising! The sea is rising! Look out, the sea is rising!

Socialist Worker supporters pretending to be Climaction, traipsed around central Auckland yesterday warning us of impending climate disaster.

From Indymedia

July 7 was marked by small but rowdy walking busses around the Auckland CBD and a march down queen st. The action organised by climaction to coincide with the live earth concerts being held around the world called for free public transport and immediate action on climate change. The march of between 1 - 2 hundred people chanted "System change not climate change" "Al gore whats the score the systems rotten to the core" and "one solution Revolution". A model coal power station was wheeled down queen st and members of several groups working on climate change were present. Around 30 members of the police kept the march surrounded and the public was highly supportive of the event.

Yeah right.

i think i saw a wierd man with a red face who said - i like climate chnage, i think he held a sign saying 'climate science coalition' and had an ACT t shirt - was it you trev? no thats right there wasnt any cranky climate sceptics- the only people in the public that got annoyed was a cpl of grumpy aucklanders who wanted to walk real fast down the street and got a little delayed.

was a good turn out and wide mix of people of all ages. even a couple of rightwingers i am told.

no trev climate change isnt a socialist conspiracy - it is a modern reality. wake up!!

most of the public were very interested - auckland has a traffic problem - affordable public transport would fix that.

climate chaos is real concern for our generation and even more so for the next. care for a debate on it trevor? are you in the climate science coalition?

No anon, I'm not in the coalition, but I am supportive of their work.

The trouble with public transport is that many people don't like it and won't use it unless forced to.

I don't believe in force, so that means we should design our transport networks around what people do like-their cars.

Planet Earth is scientifically estimated to be approximately four and a half billion years old.(4500 milion years)according to Carl Sagan and others.our oldest written history approx,5000 years,(the period of King Ashoka's reign in India)Our modern scientific records go back a few hundred years,at most.So although it is undeniable that the Earth is currently warmer than it's been for a while, and the seasons do seem to have changed within the lifetimes of anyone over 40 it beggars belief that anything measured in decades,or even a century or two, could possibly have any relevance when placed on a time scale of four and a half billion years. Most people cannot,(or will not)consider the prospect of planetary axial shifts every 12500 years or so,even though these are identifiable and verifiable, and yet are falling over themselves to be led down the climate change road, where a few decades of changing weather patterns are presumed to be the death knell of our immensely old planet. Somewhat ironically, many of the proponents of climate change doom, would subscibe to the Gaia theory, that the Earth is a live being, which if true, might explain it.Maybe the planet is tired of it's current occupants, and is simply heating up a degree or so to burn them off.
