2010-Can the West be Saved?

Happy New Year folks.

2010 will be a biggie.

Most of the political action will center on the US.

If the patriotic revolution/Tea Party movement can help smash the Democrats and put lots of decent libertarians , conservatives and patriots into the US Congress and Senate, Western civilization will have a fighting chance.

If it does not and the Obama/Marxist revolution rolls on, we are all in deep trouble.

The US will not just drag us all into economic Depression-it will drag us into war and world wide tyranny.

If the US sinks economically and culturally, it will lose its military superiority and the world will eventually be ruled by China, Russia, Cuba, Iran and radical Islam.

The future of the world lies not in the battlefields of the Middle East, Europe or Asia, but in the ballot boxes of Florida, Ohio and Wisconsin.

2010 will be either the start of a new Golden Era or the beginning of a new Dark Age.

New Zeal will do its best to help freedom's friends in the American heartland.

Its up to America to save the West. Its up to all the rest of us to help as best we can.

Enemy of Liberty-Dennis Brutus-Dies in Capetown

An enemy of liberty on two continents, Dennis Vincent Brutus (1924-2009) died early on December 26 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa

Brutus is remembered for the good work he did against South African Apartheid, but his real life's mission was promoting socialism.

Brutus was born in Salisbury, Rhodesia in 1924, but his South African parents soon moved to Port Elizabeth, in the Republic of South Africa.

Brutus entered Fort Hare University on a full scholarship in 1940, graduating with a distinction in English and a second major in psychology. Further studies in law at the University of the Witwatersrand were cut short by imprisonment for anti-apartheid activism.

Brutus’ political activity initially included extensive journalistic reporting, organising with the Teachers’ League and the African National Congress movement, then already extensively infiltrated by the Communist Party of South Africa.

He was also an early leader in the new South African Sports Association as an alternative to white sports bodies. After his "banning" in 1961 under the Suppression of Communism Act, he fled to Mozambique but was captured and deported to Johannesburg. There, in 1963, Brutus was shot in the back while attempting to escape police custody. He nearly died while awaiting an ambulance reserved for blacks.

While recovering, Brutus was held in the Johannesburg Fort Prison cell which more than a half-century earlier housed [[Mahatma Gandhi]]. Brutus was transferred to Robben Island where he was jailed in the cell next to Umkhunto We Sizwe terrorist leader [[Nelson Mandela]].

Forced into exile, Brutus resumed simultaneous careers as a poet and anti-apartheid campaigner in London, and while working for the [[International Defense and Aid Fund]], was instrumental in achieving South Africa's expulsion from the 1968 Mexican Olympics and then in 1970 from the Olympic movement.

Brutus moved to the US in 1971, serving as a professor of literature and African studies at Northwestern (Chicago) and Pittsburgh. He defeated efforts by the Reagan administration to deport him during the early 1980s.

While in the US Brutus worked closely with the Communist Party USA, Institute for Policy Studies, Africa Action and various other Marxist organisations.

In 1972 he was a sponsor of the Communist Party's National Anti-Imperialist Conference in Solidarity With African Liberation, held at malcolm X College in Chicago.

In the 1980s Brutus served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago based Black Press Institute, a Soviet/Cuban/Grenadan connected operation run by Alice Palmer-later a political mentor to Barack Obama.

Following the ANC/South African Communist Party takeover of South Africa in 1994, Brutus resumed activities with "grassroots social movements in his home country"-mainly Trotskyist oriented operations.

In the late 1990s he was a featured speaker each year at the Marxist controlled World Social Forum and joined protests against the World Trade Organisation, G8, Bretton Woods Institutions and the New Partnership for Africa’s Development.

In October 1998 Brutus returned to the US to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Communist Manifesto, by speaking at the "Manifestivity" at Cooper Union's Great Hall, New York.

In 2006 Dennis Brutus contributed a foreword to "Marx, Lenin, and the Revolutionary Experience: Studies of Communism and Radicalism in an Age of Globalization" by US Trotskyite writer Paul Le Blanc.

Up until this year Brutus still served on the Advisory Committee of the US based Independent Progressive Politics Network-a group linking activists from Democratic Socialists of America, Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism and other Marxist tendencies.

Among awards Brutus recieved were the US War Resisters League peace award in September 2009, two Doctor of Literature degrees conferred at Rhodes and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in April 2009 -- following six other honorary doctorates – and the Lifetime Achievement Award of the South African government Department of Arts and Culture in 2008.

Brutus was also awarded membership in the South African Sports Hall of Fame in 2007, but rejected it on grounds that the institution had not confronted the country’s racist history. He also won the Paul Robeson and Langston Hughes awards.

Brutus loved Venezuela and Hugo Chavez-seeing him as a leader of world socialism.

Below is a poem presented by Dennis Brutus, when in Venezuela for the eighth meeting of the "Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defence of Humanity" and the "World Forum for Alternatives", October 18, 2008.

There will come a time
There will come a time we believe
When the shape of the planet
and the divisions of the land
Will be less important
We will be caught in a glow of friendship
a red star of hope
will illuminate our lives
A star of hope
A star of joy
A star of freedom

In thanks to President Hugo Chavez and the people of Venezuela,

Dennis Brutus

Even in his last days, Brutus was fully committed to revolution "advocating social protest against those responsible for climate change, and promoting reparations to black South Africans from corporations that benefited from apartheid".

In August 2009 Brutus called for the "Seattling" of the recent Copenhagen summit because sufficient greenhouse gas emissions cuts and North-South "climate debt" payments were not on the agenda.

Brutus made the following comment in an open letter to the UN Climate Change Gathering in Copenhagen on Oct. 12, 2009,

The danger in falling short of setting deep cuts of 45% from 1990 carbon emission levels is that it puts us beyond the tipping point where unknown additional and more catastrophic changes will be wrought in the earth's water and rainfall systems, ultimately killing millions in sudden and violent storms, droughts and fires.

Brutus intended to attend the conference as he states in the video above, filmed on the occasion of his 85th birthday, however he died shortly afterwards.

Dennis Brutus led a vigorous and committed life, but ultimately a served tyranny and destruction far more than human liberty.

He lived a whole life without learning that liberating South Africa's blacks and coloureds, could be achieved without enslaving everyone else on the planet.

Japan Moves Closer to Beijing-What Are the Consequences?

This should be big news-but it won't be until the consequences become obvious.

The new left leaning Democratic Party government in Japan is moving towards Beijing.

They can see the writing on the wall-an Obama government seemingly intent on bankrupting his own country and unlikely to lift a finger against any Chinese aggression in Asia or the Pacific.

An increasingly powerful China, long admired by many of Japan's anti-American elite.

Unless reversed, this building re-alignment will have serious implications for Korea, Taiwan, the whole Asia-Pacific region and eventually the planet.

From the Communist Party of China International Department website;

BEIJING, Dec. 10 -- Ruling parties of China and Japan on Thursday pledged to deepen trust and work together for a stronger strategic relationship of mutual benefit between the two countries.

The pledge came out of a meeting between Chinese President Hu Jintao and Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) Ichiro Ozawa in Beijing on Thursday afternoon.

Ozawa is leading a delegation of 600-strong members, including 146 DPJ lawmakers from the upper and lower houses of the Japanese Diet, for a four-day visit in Beijing.

The group is the first DPJ-led delegation to China since the DPJ came to power in September.

Hu started the meeting by calling Ozawa "an old friend of the Chinese people who visited China many times and made important contribution to bilateral relations."

This was the third meeting in Beijing between Hu and Ozawa, who visited China in capacity of the DPJ leader in 2006 and 2007.

"The Communist Party of China (CPC) attaches great importance to relations with DPJ and would like to work together to improve party-to-party exchange mechanism," said Hu, who is the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

Hu called for concerted efforts to make the mechanism an important platform for the two ruling parties to hold dialogues, enhance trust, promote cooperation and seek common development in a bid to boost the sound and in-depth growth of bilateral relationship.

Ozawa echoed Hu's views, saying the DPJ was committed to bolstering Japan-China ties and would continue to make best of the party-to-party exchange mechanism for a better strategic relationship of mutual benefit.

On the broader China-Japan relations, Hu said the two countries had interacted actively and undergone a smooth transition since the DPJ became Japan's ruling party in September.

Hu said he and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama reached important consensus on furthering the strategic relationship of mutual benefit and bringing the bilateral relationship to a new era.

Stressing the principle and spirit of four political documents between the two countries, Hu said China would like to work more closely with Japan to properly address the sensitive issues between them and jointly tackle global challenges.

Ozawa praised China's economic and social progress and its constructive role in international affairs.

Ozawa said profound changes in the international arena offered a broad prospect for Japan and China to work together in all fronts.

Communists Aim to Step Up Pressure on Healthcare

If any kind of Healthcare Bill is passed by the US Senate, the the Communist Party USA/Democratic Socialists of America/Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, will not rest until they achieve fully socialized 'single payer' health care.

The US left will amp up the pressure on their vassals in the unions and their numerous allies in the US Congress and Senate until the entire US health sector is in state hands.

From today's edition of the Communist Party USA's People's World.

We have a lot to do going forward, so let's celebrate our struggles and future victories: the struggle to fund education and health care, to bring Obama's health plan to fruition as a big step forward on the road to a national health service, for jobs and housing for all, against racism and sexism, and for a more just, democratic and peaceful nation and world.

Free Market Suits Maori Best-No Surprises There

From the ACT Party website

ACT New Zealand’s Economic Spokesman Sir Roger Douglas today expressed concern that Maori organisations were focusing on the trivial factors of Maori development and ignoring what would make a real difference.

"A huge amount of money is set to be spent by three Maori groups seeking to make a claim to fourth generation spectrum through the Waitangi Tribunal, and undoubtedly a lot more will be spent on political lobbying," Sir Roger said.

"This is a real shame. There are more important issues they could be advocating. For example, 22 percent of Maori leave school with no formal qualification. This year, only sixty percent of Maori students will be certified as being able to read, write, and perform arithmetic at NCEA Level 1.

"Many of these students will leave school early and enter into a workforce where employers are forced by the Government – through interventions like the minimum wage - to discriminate against those with low skills. This often blocks young Maori from getting the on-the-job training that would increase their skills and their wages.

"Rather than wrenching the Treaty out of its original context in order to claim spectrum, Maori development would be much better placed if the focus was instead put on choice for Maori. That means choice for whänau and individuals in schooling, choice to genuinely develop (or sell) Maori land and choice in health services and superannuation.

"Through history, the market has been a much greater friend to Maori than the state ever has. Future Maori development lies in freedom and choice – the political dimension is gamed against minorities," Sir Roger said.

Lord Monckton Names Names at Copenhagen-Must Watch

Dessima Williams-Just One of Many Socialists Negotiating Away Our Future at Copenhagen

The Copenhagen "Climate Change" conference is being driven not by scientists, but by politicians-mainly socialist politicians.

One of the influential players at Copenhagen is Dessima Williams- currently Grenadan ambassador to the United Nations and Chair of the Alliance of Small Island States.

Dessima Williams is a "climate change" zealot.

“It is a cruel irony that without adequate global commitments, the countries contributing least to global warming will be the ones most affected by its consequences... For the smallest and most vulnerable among us, climate change is already here..."

Dessima Williams says we must have a "new paradigm of contemporary living"

Williams' past might give some clues as to what kind of "new paradigm" Williams has in mind.

Until recently, Dessima Williams was a professor of sociology and Caribbean studies at Brandeis University. she also served as Grenada's ambassador to UNESCO and to the Organization of American States.

Williams is a founder of the Grenada Education and Development Program. She is also co-founder of HAITIwomen and a vice president of OXFAM America. She was a delegate to the World Summit on Social Development in Copenhagen in 1995. She was also co-chair of Massachusetts Action for Women, which was launched to implement the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action of the Fourth World Conference on Women.

Behind the "respectable" left facade lies an even more radical core-forged in the poverty and misery Williams witnessed during her childhood in Grenada.

Accepted into the University of Minnesota, Williams left Grenada in her teens to study International Relations.

Although at first bewildered and confused by the racism and unfairness she saw in the United States, she became politically active, forming groups to spread the word about Caribbean culture
.

Though U.S. based Williams was a supporter of the Marxist-Leninist, New Jewel Movement, which took power in Grenada in 1979.

In 1979...The pro-socialist New Jewel Movement, with which she had affiliated herself, overthrew the dictatorial government and took power. In a brief phone call, Williams was assigned the central role as Grenada's ambassador to the Organization of American States. In a whirlwind of meetings and travel, she became the government's representative to Congress, the media, the U.N., the World Bank and UNESCO. Working alongside Grenada's prime minister and foreign minister, she helped to manage Grenada's foreign relations while seeking economic support from bilateral and multilateral donors.

Williams says.."I understood the possibility of change." Developing countries stuck together in the UN, she explains, and she was active in a non-alignment movement with Mexico, India, Cuba, Ghana and Yugoslavia. "

Her role became "to translate Grenada to the world and the world to Grenada,"

In 1983, havoc broke loose among the government of Grenada. The pro-Soviet/Cuban Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and others were killed by more even more radical members of their own party. U.S. forces invaded the country to restore order and presumably to stop further Cuban/Soviet encroachment into the region.

Williams was both "enraged and devastated" to watch the collapse of what she and her colleagues had fought for. She left the embassy and mobilized diplomatic opinion for the removal of U.S. troops from Grenada, a process which ended a year and a half later...

At this point, Dessima Williams, left Grenada to finish her graduate studies in the United States.

During regular trips to Grenada, Williams was involved with the Maurice Bishop Patriotic Movement faction, which remained active on the island.

Williams also became a leader of the Communist Party USA breakaway group, the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS).

She is listed at above left as a member of CCDS's 2002 advisory board.

Incidentally, US President Barack Obama has a long history with CCDS. The Timuel Black also listed at left has been in contact with Obama since since at least 1992.

In 2001 Williams was honored by more of Obama's Marxist friends , Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). The Boston branch of DSA gave Dessima Williams their annual Debs-Thomas-Bernstein Award.

Dessima Williams' moving and inspirational speech recounted how a young graduate student in the U.S. came to find herself appointed UN Ambassador from Grenada's new revolutionary government. Reflecting on the bitterness and sorrow of seeing their promising movement collapse, leading to military coup and ultimately a U.S. invasion, Dessima affirmed her conviction gained from experience that "Socialism without democracy cannot survive, but ultimately, neither can democracy without socialism.

The real question is, can Western style democracy survive, with people like Dessima Williams and her comrades, deciding the fate of our world in Copenhagen?

Hierarchy=Respect

Hierarchy is a much disrespected concept in this PC world. Yet ethical hierarchy is the natural order of things, the bedrock of human interaction and should be glorified.

Tracey at Resilianz has just posted an excellent piece entitled "Hierarchical respect".

To Tracey, respect runs both ways on the hierarchical ladder, rather than up only, as many of us have been led to believe.

Tracey points to the high pressure world of professional cookery, to illustrate how hierarchy promotes respect in both directions.

No-one can deny the success many chefs enjoy, and the tremendous job satisfaction most of them appear to have on a daily basis. Yet it is one of the most un-PC jobs around these days. The scenes we see from movies of the screaming head chef, the apprentice working 14 hours days without a break - they are not fake, that is the chef world. Most other professions would never tolerate this behavior or work conditions yet these guys do and with it comes respect - for themselves, for their peers, superiors and underlings.
Golly gosh - how in today's PC environment does that happen? Respect and admiration in a hierarchical system - no affirmative action, no strikes for better pay or working conditions (actually I have never heard of a chef going on strike). Could the culinary world actually be onto something? The Politically Correct automatons wouldn't want you to think so.

Obama File 93 Obama's Marxist Doctor Once Supported Google Health Advisor

Obama File 92 here

As the world's largest search engine, Google is the planet's most powerful information provider.

Google rankings can determine whether a story becomes "top of mind" for millions of people-or sinks without trace.

Healthcare is a huge issue in the United States. The Senate is about to debate a Healthcare Bill which could hugely impact the economic and political direction of the US.

A few years ago, Google established an Health Advisory Council;

We often seek expertise from outside the company, and health is no exception. To help us think about the ways we can contribute to the healthcare industry, we formed the Google Health Advisory Council. The Google Health Advisory Council is made up of healthcare experts from provider organizations, consumer and disease-based groups, physician organizations, research institutions, policy foundations, and other fields.

The mission of the Google Health Advisory Council is to help us better understand the problems consumers and providers face every day and to offer us feedback on product ideas and development.

Clearly this Council may have some impact on the way Google handles the health debate-or else why have it?

Therefore Americans should be concerned at the background and connections of one of Google's Health Advisory Board members-John R. Lumpkin.

On the face of it, John Lumpkin has impressive credentials.

He earned his M.D. and B.M.S. degrees from Northwestern University Medical School and his M.P.H. from the University of Illinois School of Public Health. He has served on the faculty of the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and University of Illinois at Chicago and has taught at Princeton University.

John Lumpkin, is responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, management and evaluation of all program and administrative activities for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health Care Group.

He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies and a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the American College of Medical Informatics. He has served on the boards of directors for the Public Health Foundation and National Quality Forum, as president of the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians and the Society of Teachers of Emergency Medicine.

What his bio doesn't tell us is that John R . Lumpkin was once a publicly identified supporter of the Communist Party USA.

John Lumpkin is the son of two Chicago Communist Party stalwarts, Frank and Bea Lumpkin.

Frank and Beatrice Lumpkin, 2005

In their day, the senior Lumpkins were leaders of the Illinois Party.

In the 1980s both worked for the election of Chicago's first Black mayor, the radical Harold Washington-the man who inspired Barack Obama to first move to the "Windy City".

Working through his Save Our Jobs Committee Lumpkin also helped elect communist connected Senator Carol Moseley Braun in 1992. Barack Obama contributed too, through his work with Project Vote.

According to Communist Party USA paper Peoples Weekly World;

Lumpkin also led SOJ into independent political action. They played an important role in the election of Harold Washington as mayor of Chicago, a historic victory...Washington and Lumpkin had a special relationship ... Washington seemed to draw strength from Lumpkin's participation...

SOJ was also an important factor in the election of of Carol Moseley Braun, the first Black woman to serve in the U.S. Senate.

Barack Obama benefited from the same socialist/communist coalition when he won Carol Moseley Braun's former Senate Seat in 2004.

In 1979, John R. Lumpkin ran for Alderman in Chicago's 7th Ward.

Leading members of the "Committee to elect John R. Lumpkin" included Harold Washington, Carol Moseley Braun and Communist Party members Roberta Wood, Scott Marshall, Joe Kransdorf and Frank Lumpkin.

Timuel Black-now a member of both the Communist Party breakaway group Committees of Correspondence for Democracy Socialism and Democratic Socialists of America, was on the list. Blacklater became a close friend and supporter of Barack Obama.

Also there was Quentin Young, now a member of Democratic Socialists of America. For more than 20 years Young has been a close friend, personal physician and political mentor to Barack Obama.

Though he has denied Party membership, Quentin Young was a member of the Young Communist League in his teens. He was also accused of membership of the Bethune Club of the Communist Party ( a party doctor's group) by a government commission investigating the 1968 Democratic Party Convention riots in Chicago.

Quentin Young has been the US's most active proponent of "single payer" or socialzed healthcare for decades-firstly through his medical committee for Human Rights, then his Physicians for a National Health Program and his Health and Medicine Policy Research Group.

The next exhibit is a list of signatories to an Illinois Communist Party to an electoral petition for the 1976 US Presidential Elections.

John R. Lumpkin is listed, as are three prominent Party members , all of whom are active in the modern "single payer" movement and all of whom are close to Quentin Young-Mark J Almberg, Peter Orris and Linda Rae Murray.

Mark J. Almberg is still a leading member of the Communist Party USA in Chicago. Mark Almberg is also the Communications Director of Quentin Young's Physicians for a National Health Plan, one the US's main "single payer" advocacy groups.

Dr Peter Orris left the Communist Party in 1992 for the Committees of Correspondence , in which he now plays a leading role.

While still in the Communist Party, Orris helped Quentin Young to set up the Physicians for a National Health Plan.

Orris serves as Professor and Associate Director of the Great Lakes Center for Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health of the University Of Illinois School Of Public Health.

Orris holds several union advisory roles, including with SEIU and uses his positions to promote "single payer" at every opportunity.

Linda Rae Murray also left the Communist Party in 1992 and has since worked closely with Committees of Correspondence and Democratic Socialists of America.

Linda Rae Murray is a prominent Chicago health professional and the the immediate past president of Quentin Young's Health and Medicine Policy Research Group.

She is a leading and very active advocate for "single payer" and has just been elected president of the American Public Health Association-a post Quentin Young held in 1988.

Quentin Young and Linda Rae Murray (left), Barack Obama (right) 2003.

John Lumpkin grew up in the Communist Party, most of his his extended family were, or are still Party members. All of them, in line with Communist Party policy, strongly support "single payer' socialized healthcare.

John Lumpkin supported the Party. He benefited from the assistance of Party members in his own short political career. He worked in the incestuous "you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" world of Chicago left politics.

Now his old comrades are making considerable progress towards their dream of socialized healthcare. If an Healthcare Bill is passed, the Communist Party USA, Democratic Socialists of America and the Committees of Correspondence will not rest until the US health sector is completely socialized.

Several of John Lumpkin's old allies are now vocal single "payer advocates". One of them, Quentin Young is the father of the US socialized healthcare movement and proudly admits to having tutored his friend Barack Obama in the subject.

John Lumpkin himself is an advocate of more government involvement in healthcare provision.

The question is, could John R. Lumpkin use his position at Google to influence the public health debate in a more socialist direction? A direction his old friends and comrades would approve of?

Obama File 92 Some Christmas Reading for Your Senators-Obama, Young, Conyers and Socialized Healthcare

Obama File 91 here

My last post dealt with Barack Obama's Marxist personal physician of more than 20 years, Quentin Young and his decades long campaign to socialize US healthcare.

Young and his comrades in Physicians for a National Health Plan and Healthcare Now! have driven the US healthcare debate for years. Now they have a friend in the Oval Office and both Houses of Congress controlled by the Democrats.

Soon the Senate may pass a Healthcare Bill-but whatever form it takes, the drive to fully socialized, government controlled "single payer" healthcare will only accelerate.

The socialist's agenda goes far beyond tinkering or minor reforms-they want fully socialized "single payer" healthcare.

Quentin Young is a member of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). He and his DSA comrades and his allies in Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS) and the Communist Party USA, all want socialized healthcare as a major stepping stone to a socialist America.

Health and Medicine Policy Research Group

This post looks at another arrow in Quentin Young's "single-payer" quiver-his Chicago based Health and Medicine Policy Research Group (HMPRG).

We're a 28-year old 501c3 nonprofit that operates as an independent, freestanding center driven by a singular mission: formulating health policy, advocacy and health systems to enhance the health of the public.

HMPRG was founded in 1981 by Quentin Young and John McKnight, a radical community organizer turned academic. McKnight trained Barack Obama for three years in the late '80s and wrote a letter of recommendation which helped the young activist gain entry to Harvard Law School.

HMPRG's board of directors includes Yolanda Hall, who was in the Young Communist League with Quentin Young before joining the Communist Party in 1939-plus two more recent Party members, Linda Rae Murray and Mildred Williamson.

On March 7 2008 HMPRG organized an 85th birthday tribute dinner for Quentin Young in Chicago-themed "Rebel without a pause".

Guests included Illinois Senator Dick Durbin and the state's Governor, Pat Quinn.

Host Committee members included;

Timuel Black- formerly with the Socialist Party USA-now with both DSA and CCDS. Black was Chicago DSA's Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner honoree in 2009. He is a long time friend and supporter of Barack Obama.

Danny K Davis- Illinois Congressman and DSA member, with past ties to both the Communist Party and CCDS . Davis was active with Obama in the DSA/Committees of Correspondence influenced New Party in the mid '90s.

Leon Despres-formerly with the Socialist Party USA. Chicago DSA Debs-Thomas Dinner honoree in 1975. A mentor to Barack Obama.

Miguelle del Valle-Chicago City Clerk. ChicagoDSA Debs-Thomas Dinner guest speaker in 2001. Del valle supported obama in his 2003 US senate campaign.

Jacky Grimshaw-Chicago DSA Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner honoree in 1987. Barack Obama's Hyde Park next door neighbour and long time supporter.

Roberta Lynch -DSA member. Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner speaker in 1983.

William McNary-Chicago DSA Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner guest speaker in 2005. MacNary also has close ties to the Communist Party and is a close friend and supporter of Barack Obama.

Calvin Morris-Chicago DSA Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner honoree 2006.

David Orr-Cook County Clerk. Chicago DSA Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner guest in 1983 and 1993 and guest speaker in 1988.

Peter Orris- a founder with Quentin Young of Physicians for a National Health Plan. A Communist Party member until 1991- now a leader of CCDS.

Jane Ramsey-ChicagoDSA Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner honoree 2009, with Timuel Black.

Bettylu Saltzman-A long time Obama supporter and fundraiser.

Jan Schakowsky -Chicago DSA Debs-Thomas-Harrington Dinner honoree in 2000, guest speaker in 2004 and a guest in 1993. A long time Obama supporter.

Jeremiah Stamler-A life long medical and activist colleague of Quentin Young and Yolanda Hall. A 1960s "Fifth Amendment" Communist.

John Conyers

One of the key speakers at the Quentin Young event was Michigan Democratic Congressman John Conyers-a leading proponent of "single payer" Healthcare.

Conyers praised Quentin Young , Danny Davis and Jan Schakowsky for their efforts on the health issue.

He stated that "we" were pushing "single payer" long before Barack Obama came out in favour of the idea while still an Illinois State Senator.

He also makes it very clear that he and the comrades will not be satisfied with anything but fully socialized healthcare.

Conyers of course has a long Communist front record. He is also very close to Democratic Socialists of America-addressing their founding conference in Detroit in 1982 and their National Convention in the same city in 2003.

Promoting "single payer"

HMPRG personnel promote "single payer" in every possible forum, at every possible opportunity.

In June 2008 HMPRG vice president Claudia Fegan addressed the "How Class Works" conference at Stonybrook New York-on the subject "Putting Single-Payer Health Care in the Mix."

Other conference speakers included Progressives for Obama founder Bill Fletcher Jr. and Michele Rossi of DSA, Harry Targ, Meta Van Sickle, Carl Bloice, Ira Grupper, Mark Solomon and Manning Marable of CCDS, plus recently elected AFL-CIO president and "single payer" advocate, Richard Trumka.

Claudia Fegan spoke on "single payer" health care and HR 676, Rep. John Conyers' bill, at the HR 676 Congressional caucus reception during the Democratic National Convention, August 26, 2008-she is introduced by former Democratic Socialists of America National director, Michael Lighty.

Mildred Williamson-an HMPRG board member and Illinois Public Health official, was a member of the Communist Party until 1991, when she left to join CCDS.

She is also is an admirer of the Cuban health system. On April 24 2007 at the School of The Art Institute Auditorium, Chicago, Williamson and CCDS comrade Dr Peter Orris held a discussion following the screening of "Salud" a documentary exploring Cuba’s healthcare system & global initiatives...

Mildred Williamson strongly advocated "single payer" at a CCDS midwest regional meeting in August 2007. The meeting went on to to recommend that national CCDS should;

...develop a position paper and a variety of informational materials on the health care crisis, the threat to the basic healthcare infrastructure in the United States, and a single payer national health care system. These materials should be broadly disseminated.

Mildred Williamson is one of several CCDS endorsers of the Progressives for Obama website.

Linda Rae Murray is immediate past president of HMPRG. Like Mildred williamson she was a member of the Communist Party until 1991 and has since been close to CCDS-and to to DSA.

At Chicago DSA's 1993 Debs - Thomas - Harrington Dinner;

Dr. Murray cautioned about what might be presented as a national health plan and the need for a real radical change in the medical delivery system in our country: the need for public health to be given the consideration it needs, the need to realize that the Canadian single payer plan was the way to go... The insurance industry and the pharmaceutical industry have to be met head-on.

In May 2005, Chicago Democratic Socialists of America honored Linda Rae Murray at their annual Debs - Thomas - Harrington Dinner.

For your advocacy of universal health care as a right of all citizens;
For your service to the community in the field of public health;
For your willingness to speak out against the injustices of an unequal society;
The Debs - Thomas - Harrington Dinner Committee does hereby present you with its annual award this 6th day of May, 2005.

Linda Rae Murray has addressed forums organised by the Spirit of 1848 caucus within the American Public Health Association. The Caucus is openly Marxist and claims that I848 was the year of many "progressive" social advances including the writing of the Communist Manifesto.

At the October 2008 APHA conference in San Diego, the Medicare, Spirit of 1848, Women's and Socialist Caucuses within APHA co-sponsored the P. Ellen Parsons Memorial Session, on “Health Access & The Elections: What Happened, What Didn’t”

Linda Rae Murray used the occasion to attack private healthcare provision and promote the socialist alternative.

Linda Rae Murray, as discussant, then spoke to the importance of not staying stuck in an overly complicated policy-wonk mode but instead appealing to people’s sense of fairness, framing health care as a human right, and making clear the current system does not work and incremental efforts at reform have made little or no difference.

She also emphasized that one reason that efforts over the past 100 years have failed is that creating a system that fairly provides universal health coverage is a way of redistributing wealth, which goes against capitalist ideology, such that it requires taking this ideology head-on...

In November 2009 Linda Rae Murray, a 30-year member of American Public Health Association —the largest public health organization in the world, was elected president of the organization on a platform that stated;

If we are going to make progress toward a healthy nation we have to overcome those issues which divide us; issues of racism, immigrant rights, gender discrimination and workers’ rights. It is only through unity that we will have the strength to the changes our country needs...

The United States must join the rest of the industrialized world in guaranteeing the right to medical care to everyone, including those in the country without proper documents. I agree with the APHA position that the best way to accomplish this is through a single payer insurance plan.

Socialists won't quit on "single payer"

Quentin Young (left), Linda Rae Murray (second from left), Claudia Fegan (center) Barack Obama (right) at Quentin Young's 80th birthday celebration, 2003.

CCDS leader Manning Marable, wrote in the British Marxist journal Socialist Review December 2008;

What makes Obama different is that he has also been a community organiser. He has read left literature, including my works, and he understands what socialism is.

A lot of the people working with him are, indeed, socialists with backgrounds in the Communist Party or as independent Marxists. There are a lot of people like that in Chicago who have worked with him for years...

Indeed there are-and many of them are "single payer" advocates.

Quentin Young claims credit for turning Barack Obama into a "single payer" advocate when the President was an Illinois State Senator.

It is clear that the Marxists who guided Obama's career in Chicago want a return on their investment.

It is also clear that he socialists and communists around Quentin Young and John Conyers will accept no compromise measures.

If the US Senate passes even the mildest of Healthcare Bills, the socialists will use the leverage to push for greater and greater changes, until US medicine is under complete state control.

With one sixth of the US economy socialized, the far left will then turn their attention to the rest.

It will be downhill coasting for the socialists and a downhill slide for America.

Please send this post to both of your Senators for some Christmas reading and reflection.

Please let them know that America's freedom and prosperity lies in their hands.

Must Read-How the Soviets Controlled the British Labour Party-Lesson for What's Left of the West

Below I reproduce a briiliant article by Sue Reid from the Britain's Daily Mail.

It is a must read for every American, Kiwi, Briton, Australian, Canadian, South Korean, Taiwanese, Japanese, Israeli, South African, European or Latin American who cares about saving and restoring what's left of the West.

The article confirms a major theme of New Zeal-that the real danger to the West, the real threat of communism and socialism is not terrorists or atom bomb spies.

It is the traitors and stooges who infest the mainstream left-The British Labour Party , New Zealand Labour, Australian Labor, the Canadian Liberals, Israeli Labor , the South African ANC, the French Socialist Party and most obviously of all, Barck Obama's Democratic Party.

The real secret of socialism is the ability of small cliques of foreign directed communists and socialists, to direct, through the union movement, peace movement and other pressure groups and direct infiltration, the policies and direction of the mainstream political parties.

The KGB were always subservient to the Soviet International Department-which answered directly to the Politburo. The international Department were not spies per se-their job was to influence Western public opinion and government policies through infiltration and manipulation of Western institutions-the media, unions, "peace" movements and most importantly, the mainstream political parties-manly, though not exclusely, those of the left.

This article is historical, but points out that this process has left a legacy.

I go much further-I say the process is ongoing and continues to be directed by the "former" KGB men now in charge in Moscow, the Marxist-Leninist leaders in Beijing, Havana and now Caracas.

From the Daily Mail Online

Lancashire blacksmith's son and leader of the Communist Party of Great Britain stood in front of the group of high-flying young Left-wingers at Cambridge University.

Harry Pollitt told them: 'Don't join us. Work hard, get good degrees, join the Establishment and serve our cause from within.'

It was a few years after World War II and they took Pollitt at his word. Within a decade, the Communist Party foundered (its membership peaked at 60,000 in 1945) as Pollitt's bright young devotees infiltrated the Establishment.

Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin with British Prime Minister Harold Wilson

They were soon exercising considerable influence in universities, the state education system, publishing houses, the legal hierarchy and the civil service.

But it was in politics that these high-flying members of the Left established their greatest power-base, both in the Labour Party and the trades' union movement.

Just how deep the tentacles of communism reached into the heart of British government has now been revealed with the emergence of an extraordinary diary by Anatoly Chernyaev, the Soviet Union's contact man with the West at the icy height of the Cold War.

Meticulously detailed and written by hand on lined notepaper, the diary has come to light in the U.S. National Security Archive.

It tells the story of a 'special relationship' not between Britain and America - but between the British Labour Party and Soviet communists.

It was a relationship that lasted more than 30 years, right up to Margaret Thatcher's arrival as Prime Minister in 1979 and beyond.

Indeed, one of the most shocking of the diary's many revelations is how Labour leaders Michael Foot and Neil Kinnock colluded with the Soviet communists to try to beat their 'common enemy', Margaret Thatcher.

But more worrying, perhaps, is the fact that the document shows in stark detail how the political ideology of so many of those who govern us today was shaped by the unspeakable communist creed of the Soviet Union.

The unpalatable truth is that many ministers in Government today rose through the ranks of a British socialist movement that was heavily influenced - and even controlled - by the Kremlin in Moscow.

Jack Jones at a Labour Party conference

Svetlana Savranskaya, Director of Russia Programmes at the U.S. archive, describes Chernyaev's diary as 'the single most authoritative source on Soviet policy-making in the last 20 years'.

Its explosive contents have only just emerged because the pre-1985 entries remained untranslated until now.

Chernyaev was deputy in the Soviet International Department and later an adviser to President Mikhail Gorbachev. Today, he is 88 and lives in obscurity outside Moscow.

And while many senior members of the Labour Party and union movement will be appalled at his revelations, the old KGB hand himself is delighted his memories are being published.

Transport and General Workers' Union leader Jack Jones - who received effusive praise from Prime Minister Gordon Brown when he died in April this year - was a paid agent for the USSR

Ruefully, he told this week's Spectator magazine, which publishes the diary's contents, that no Russians were interested in his past: 'This great period in the history of our country has been crossed out.'

In Britain, those on the Left who know about the depth of the Soviet influence over this country in the latter half of the 20th century, have maintained an embarrassed silence about this shameful episode in British political history.

Above all, the intimate co-operation between Moscow and the trades unions which nearly brought the country to its knees in the Sixties and Seventies has been an utterly taboo subject.

It is true that tantalising slivers of information have emerged over the years.

As the Mail revealed last month, Transport and General Workers' Union leader Jack Jones - who received effusive praise from Prime Minister Gordon Brown when he died in April this year - was a paid agent for the USSR.

In exchange for information, he used to take cash handouts from his Soviet handler in London, Oleg Gordievsky, even as late as the 1980s.

But this diary reveals that the cosy relationship between the Kremlin and Labour was far more widespread than previously thought - and had been going on for years.

One of the key figures in this murky affair was Ron Hayward, the Labour Party's general secretary between 1972 and 1982, who died in 1996.

He told Chernyaev at meetings in Moscow and London that he was determined to provide a 'genuine socialist government' for Britain.

'To achieve that, he believes he must break the Labour Cabinet,' recorded Chernyaev at the time.

It is clear from the diary that Hayward envisaged a real Soviet-style system in Britain, with the Party General Secretary (ie Hayward himself) - not a Prime Minister selected by MPs - at the very top. He would refer to himself openly as the 'party leader'.

More specifically, he informed the Soviets that he wanted to develop a cadre of young activists to prepare for Communist rule.

'I am the first Labour leader in British history who is not afraid to come out alongside Communists with the same agenda', he said, boasting that he prepared like-minded young people, put them in the right places and helped them to become prominent.

In 1974, when Harold Wilson was Labour Prime Minister, Hayward smuggled Chernyaev into the heart of the Labour Party conference to try to spread the Kremlin's influence still further.

Some of those in the conference hall recognised the Russian - but did not dare admit it. Chernyaev records in his diary how he and Hayward ran into Edward Short, the Labour Party deputy leader who had been with a Labour delegation to Moscow the year before.

'He stared at us for a moment,' Chernyaev writes in the diary, 'then he pretended he did not see us. That is very English. Apparently, he instantly guessed these were Hayward's games.'

Games, of course, they were not. In those years, the Labour Party was tightly controlled (and largely financed) by its affiliated trades unions, which chose dozens of candidates for safe Labour seats.

And it was in the unions where Chernyaev's International Department aimed to infiltrate the deepest.

The regular to-ing and fro-ing between union leaders and Moscow was commonplace - even in 1980 after Mrs Thatcher's Tories were in Government.

That year, the diary says, the TGWU's deputy leader Alec Kitson turned up drunkenly at a meeting with Chernyaev in the Russian capital. He had been drinking with his Soviet trade union counterparts for hours beforehand.

'There was a f*** in every sentence that came out of Kitson's mouth,' the diary records.

But when Kitson sobered up, he and Chernyaev concocted a plan to send a team of Russians to the Scottish TUC conference 'to deliver the Soviet point of view'.

They arranged another brainwashing session with union leaders in London. Later in 1980, in Blackpool in October, Chernyaev openly attended a TGWU-sponsored drinks reception on the eve of the Labour Party conference.

The diary says that Jenny Little, then secretary of the international group of the Labour's National Executive Committee, which oversees policy-making, played a pivotal role in Chernyaev's extraordinary access.

It is clear from the diary that Ron Hayward envisaged a real Soviet-style system in Britain, with the Party General Secretary - not a Prime Minister selected by MPs - at the very top. He would refer to himself openly as the 'party leader'

During the 1980 party conference, 'she tried to sit me down next to Jim Callaghan (the former Prime Minister who was then Labour leader), but he bypassed me as if I was a column. She herself was embarrassed'.

Party leaders such as the donkey-jacketed Michael Foot and the Welshman Neil Kinnock were at times deeply reverential to their Russian 'comrades', the diary reveals.

In 1981, Foot led a big delegation to Moscow, to discuss multilateral disarmament with the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev. 'Dear Comrade Brezhnev,' Foot said while holding Brezhnev's hand in both his own.

In December 1984, Kinnock went to Moscow accompanied by, among others, the young Charles Clarke and Patricia Hewitt - both to become ministers in Blair's government - to see Brezhnev's successor, the senile Constantin Chernenko.

Chernenko read his brief to them and listened indifferently to Kinnock's verbose response. However, the Russian promised he would help in the Labour Party's attempts to oust Margaret Thatcher from power.

Chernyaev notes that in 1985, Kinnock again turned to Moscow for support, sending a shadow minister to the Kremlin for advice on how to topple Thatcher, who was in her second term in office.

Michael Foot (right) with the Labour Party's general secretary Ron Hayward (left)

The diarist recorded: 'We have discussed everything with him. I took it upon myself to promise him everything they wanted from us, to beat Thatcher and get to power.'

It is not just the Left's close connection with the Soviet Union, but the lasting influence of that connection that should concern us all.

One of Jack Jones's brightest proteges, after all, was Gordon Brown.

The decision to give the young Scotsman his first and only safe seat, Dunfermline East, was made by two TGWU senior officials - one of them was Jack Jones, the other the drunken Alec Kitson. Both were friends of the Kremlin.

The union's patronage was ubiquitous. Neil Kinnock and Tony Blair, as well as Cabinet ministers Margaret Beckett, Harriet Harman and John Reid, were all sponsored by TGWU and made their Labour Party careers thanks to it.

The control the Soviets had over Labour, its leadership and aspiring politicians, is still having a profound impact on Britain.

As the Spectator says: 'Indeed, New Labour, which has governed since 1997, cannot be understood unless these communist influences are taken into account.

'Many of New Labour's characteristics - its deep suspicion of outsiders, its structural hostility to democratic debate, its secrecy, its faith in bureaucracy, the embedded preference for striking deals out of the public eye, and its ruthless reliance on a small group of trusted activists, result from the lengthy detente with the Kremlin.'

Yet even with the emergence of this diary, we still do not possess a full picture of how deep the dangerous Moscow penetration really went. Only as more truths trickle out of Russia will we learn the entirety of the betrayal.

As for Harry Pollitt, the British communist who played such a vital role in the Soviet infiltration of this country - encouraging the acquiesence of those in powerful places on the Left - he is better known in Moscow, where he is proclaimed as a hero, than here.

In 1970, some years after his death, the USSR issued a postage stamp with Pollitt's picture on it.

A year later, in 1971, his devotion to the Soviet cause and to the spread of 'international communism' was further acknowledged by Moscow. The Soviet navy launched a new battleship and named it after him.

Meanwhile, his many disciples in the fifth column he created in Britain continue to exert their malign influence.

Chavez Calls for New Socialist International

While the West is pre-occupied with economic problems, Afghanistan, Militant Islam and the Climate Change scam, international Marxism-Leninism is on the march.

From LINKS

November 27, 2009 -- Addressing delegates at the International Encounter of Left Parties held in Caracas, November 19-21, Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez said that with the capitalist crisis and threat of war risking the future of humanity, “the people are clamoring” for greater unity of those willing to fight for socialism.

Chavez used his November 20 speech to the conference, which involved delegates from 55 left groups from 31 countries, to call for a new international socialist organisation to unite left groups and social movements: “The time has come for us to organise the Fifth International.”

Historic

This call is historic. It follows Chavez’s call in 2005 that the only response to the barbarism of the capitalist system was to create “a new socialism of the 21st century”. In 2006, Chavez made another historic call for the creation in Venezuela of a new, mass revolutionary party in order to unite all who were part of the struggle to transform Venezuela into one party. This lead to the launch in 2007 of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) .

Chavez's call for a new international is historic because of his authority as the head of a government leading a revolutionary movement to build socialism. The Bolivrian revolution sees itself as international. Chavez has repeatedly said that either socialism is built globally or there will be no 22nd century for humanity.

The call for a new international organisation builds on the history of the socialist movement. There have been four previous socialist “internationals”, the first created by Karl Marx in 1864, which collapsed. The Second International was formed in 1889, but fell apart when representative parties sided with their own governments in the bloodshed of World War I. The Third International was founded in the aftermath of the Russian Revolution. However, Chavez said it “degenerated” under Stalinism and “betrayed” struggles for socialism around the world. Leon Trotsky founded the Fourth International in 1938. However, Trotsky died in 1940 and his followers never succeeded in building mass support.

A majority of the delegates at the Caracas conference adopted a special resolution in support of founding the “Fifth Socialist International as a space for socialist-oriented parties, movements and currents in which we can harmonise a common strategy for the struggle against imperialism, the overthrow of capitalism by socialism”. April next year has been set as the date for a conference to launch the new international.

The PSUV, a mass revolutionary party in formation, will no doubt take up this discussion with full vigour.

Likewise, left parties around the world will need to take a position on this extremely important proposal which has the potential to significantly advance the international socialist movement..

Unity against imperialism

The Encounter of Left Parties conference involved representatives of the old and new left. It included a number of long-established communist and social-democratic parties from Asia and Europe, national liberation forces from Africa and the Middle East, and new left parties such as Die Linke (Germany), the Left Bloc (Portugal) and Left Party (France).

It also involved radical and left groups from across Latin America. Some of these are older, such as the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) from Nicaragua, and some newer, such as the Movement Towards Socialism from Bolivia and the PSUV.

The first day of the conference discussed the new imperialist offensive in the region. This is exemplified by the plan for new US military in Latin America bases and the military coup against the left-leaning Honduran government in alliance with revolutionary Venezuela.

Venezuela foreign minister and PSUV leader Nicolas Maduro said that imperialism managed to destroy almost all attempts to create a new model of society in the 20th century.“There was only one experience that had the sufficient political, military and popular force, together with a revolutionary leadership, which was able to overcome all of imperialism’s plans: the Cuban Revolution”, he noted.

Maduro said unity of progressive and left forces is necessary to create a movement for peace and justice with the power to make Latin America a “territory free of US bases”.

Jorge Marti, head of the international relations department of the Communist Party of Cuba, said as it is now “the left is not up to the challenge it faces”. He said this was why it was necessary to develop a strategy for united struggle.

Nidia Diaz, a veteran leader of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) of El Salvador, said it was possible right-wing forces could win coming elections in Chile and Brazil. But, she said, “if we only think about electoral victories and not in the accumulation of social forces for change, it is easy to paint a negative picture”. She said it is essential that the left promote Chavez’s proposal for “peace bases” as focal points for agitation and mobilisation of the people.

Patricia Rodas, the legitimate foreign minister in the government of Honduras' President Manuel Rosales overthrown in the coup, said: “We are merely spokespeople for our people who today are resisting.” She said it was the responsibility of those at the meeting to build a common space for left groups to unite “and make possible the creation of a never before seen, diverse force”.

An ‘International of the 21st century

The second day of the conference -- November 20 -- started with a discussion on what sort of international coordination of the left was needed.

Valtar Pomar, international relations secretary of the Brazilian Workers’ Party (PT), outlined the position of his party, currently in government. He put forward a strategy focused on unity around regional integration and a broad-based “anti-imperialism”. He said if socialism became our lowest common denominator for unity, this would inevitably lead to division.

Pomar said the PT would prioritise the Sao Paulo Forum. The Sao Paulo Forum was formed in the 1990s as an initiative of the PT to regroup the Latin American left after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The Sao Paulo Forum, like the PT, has drifted from its radical roots to become dominated by more moderate forces.

PSUV leader Aristobulo Isturiz said the left needs more dynamic and active spaces than the Sao Paulo Forum.

Chavez’s speech that night marked a dividing line: “Yankee imperialism is preparing a war in Latin America … it has almost always been the case that the US has pulled itself out of a situation of crisis via war.” The conditions to build socialism are ripe, he said. “That is why I ask that you allow me continue to go forward, together with those who want to accompany me, to create the Fifth Socialist International.”

Chavez said it would be a new body without manuals and impositions, where differences were welcome. He criticised the practices of the old Communist Party of the Soviet Union, which imposed its dogmas such as “socialism in one country” on its satellite parties internationally. Chavez said this led many Latin American CPs to turn their backs on Argentinean-born revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara, when Che, who rejected Soviet dogmatism, tried to spread the Cuban Revolution in the 1960s.

Chavez said the new international should reject the failed projects of “real socialism” and social democracy. It should embody the spirit and heritage left to humanity by the founders of the first four internationals. It should also incorporate the ideas of past Latin American revolutionaries.

It has to be an international to confront imperialism, and defeat capitalism, said Chavez. He said it was necessary to work together to create a manifesto to spell-out the content of “socialism of the 21st century

Speaking in favour of the proposal for a new international, El Salvador's vice-president and FMLN leader Salvador Sanchez Ceren said: “We cannot continue simply debating … we need to clearly define what it is that we want, and the alternative project for Latin America is socialism

The delegation from the Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) in Bolivia told the conference they had contacted the MAS leadership, including Bolivian President Evo Morales, who agreed the MAS should back the new international.

Ecuador government minister and Country Alliance leader Ricardo Patino said his party had also agreed to participate. Honduras' foreign minister Rodas pledged the active support of the Honduran “resistance” for the proposal...

The adopted resolution pledged to create a “working group comprised of those socialist parties, currents and social movements who endorse the initiative, to prepare an agenda which defines the objectives, contents and mechanisms of this global revolutionary body”.

Speaking to the PSUV congress, Chavez said the previous four socialist internationals had originated in Europe, “where the thesis of scientific socialism emerged with force in the heat of the great popular, workers' struggles”.

Today, however, “the epicentre of revolutionary struggle is in our America. And Venezuela is the epicentre of this battle". “It is up to us to assume the role of the vanguard and we have to assume it, so that we realise and become aware of the huge responsibility we have on our shoulders.
